The RA process. Finally over!

I thought that the Rhetorical analysis paper went really well. At first I was really worried about writing it. I felt like I had no right to critique anyone's work when I felt like I wasn't that amazing of a writer myself. But overall, it went pretty well. I think The hardest thing about writing the RA was trying to figure out my thesis. The thesis was so important for my paper that I wanted to cover everything that I felt was important for this RA. I think this was a little more difficult than writing the opinion editorial because I felt I could say whatever I wanted in that essay. I was stuck to specific guidelines for this paper. I don't really think there would be anything I would change about this process. I thought it was nice that we could pick our own topic out of the book. Overall it went very well.

Tone, Figurative Language, and Diction

For my rhetorical analysis I chose the article, "Put Your Money Where Their Mouths Are." After studying this article awhile, I realized that there isn't much Figurative Language used but rather Tone. The author presents this article with different types of Tone. The written words in this article project the mood of the writer and how he feels about the situation. The author uses different word choice to reflect the seriousness of the issue of children working at too young of an age.

Put Your Money Where their Mouths Are- Audience worksheet

I chose the article in the Globalization book called "Put your money where their mouths are."
Audiences:
-This article is talking to those people who argue and try to take a stand for child labor.

Current and/or contemporary events of importance:
-This article mainly gives different examples of how when the United States or others tried to help impoverished countries with child labor, it only affected them in making them more impoverished.

Profession/race/socioeconomic status:
-The article was directly addressed to University students.

Ideologies:
- The reason people try to step in is because they feel like child labor is wrong and shouldn't be accepted anywhere.

Issues of Importance:
-The issues are that the children in these impoverished countries need education if anything.

Opponents:
-The opponents in this article is the author saying that people need to step up and instead of just boycotting child labor, they should sponsor school meals in these impoverished countries.

Major fears/worries:
-There are worries that children won't come to school because there is no food there for them.

This article was very persuasive in stating that even though we might think we know what is best for people in other countries, we just need to step up and help them without trying to change them.

I chose this picture because the article directly talks about how children would make soccer balls in Pakistan to make money, but when China stepped in to stop it, the market dropped from 65% to 45%.
